April Quilting

So since I've been pregnant with little girl I've basically done zero quilting.  I really need to get back to it because I have lots to do!  So I'm going to link up with Sew BitterSweet a her Lovely Year of Finishes to try and achieve something in April.

My list:
1. finish square for MoMs bee (piece)
2. Finish Grey Diamond quilt (sandwich, quilt, bind)
3. Quilt for baby girl

I also need to finish a quilt for J that needs to be sandwiched, quilted and bound, I have one for Soph I've been working on blocks for and then just a fun one that I'm almost done with all the blocks.  That might be too much for April.

Baby girl is still hanging in there.  I'm 31 weeks along and she has been busy busy growing.  I'll post an update soon.

52 Lists

I saw this on another blog who got it from Meet Me at Mike's.  It's just creating a list every week.  So here is mine.

My dad worked for Exxon Mobil growing up so the first 6 places were all locations I moved to with my family.  I was born in Texas and I spent most of my childhood years in Houston so I say that I grew up in Texas, but I've lived in Virginia more years now than anywhere else.  New York was only for a few months but I went to preschool there and that is where my grandmother lived.  It holds a special place in my heart.  My mother and sister and I lived there while we were looking for a house in Hoptacong.  I went to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, and loved it.  Harrisonburg is a very unique fun college town with lots of outdoor things to do that I did not take enough advantage of.  We lived in Washington DC when we were first married and I loved it.  I would move back there but we can't afford a house with a yard.  We lived in Fairfax when we found out we were expecting the girls and then brought them home from the hospital to our first home in Burke.  I love our house now, we live in a great neighborhood with lots of parks and we have amazing neighbors.  It is a fantastic kid friendly area.  Plus I work 5 minutes from home!

Here Comes Baby 3

I'm pregnant!  I'm due June 2, 2013 and I'm thrilled.  The girls are super excited.

I've enjoyed this pregnancy so much more than the last one.  Don't get me wrong I was thrilled about the girls too but once we found out they were twins there was a lot of anxiety because we never in a million years thought we would have twins.  Plus my symptoms were the girls were greatly amplified because of all the extra hormones.

This pregnancy (knock on wood) has been much easier.  First trimester was exhausting but little to no morning sickness.  Second Trimester (I'm 16w) has been pretty easy.  I have a lot more energy but I have a few aches and pains, mostly my back and my hips a little.  Baby also seems to be pressing on my body down south.

This pregnancy is flying by and here is to hopefully another quick and healthy 24 weeks.  I also hope J and I can figure out a name for the little one!  We have trouble agreeing :)

Blurry baby transverse and looking down at NT scan.  Baby did not want pictures taken and had its back and tush to us the whole time.

Bumpish at 13 weeks (I'm heavier this pregnancy than with the girl but I've lost 6 lbs total, baby is not a fan of food.  I'm not sick but have no appettite. I'm only allowed to gain 15-20 total.)

Blurry 15 week photo.

Big Steps

In preparation of the girls starting preschool this fall I decided it was time to make sure they got some milestones checked off their lists.  Namely this meant potty training and good bye pacis.

We had basically been potty training off and on, kinda, since they turned two.  They would run around with barely anything on and I would argue with them about going on the potty.  Finally in August I decided we needed to just do it.  No more pull ups or diapers except to bed.  It worked, they used the potty.  We practiced pulling our pants up and down and wiping and we did it.  Going to preschool has really helped finalize this.  We still have occasional accidents when we are busy playing but no accidents at preschool!  In the car the other day Sophie yelled out, "I have to go to the bathroom!"  "Can you hold it?"  "Um maybe."  Usually she says I have to go and then goes.  So I pulled over at the next place that showed up- 7-11.  They only had an employee bathroom, but maybe because I looked so frantic and pathetic holding on to two little people's hands they let me take her in the bathroom.  So we decided to spend some money in thanks.  I was going to just buy a water, yeah we ended up with cheetos and oreos too.  But she made it!  Potty training has its downside but I like them being out of diapers it really does make it easier.

The paci thing I might regret though.  We had to take Sophie to the doctor for a rash around her face and the doctor said get rid of them.  She and I made a big deal about how the girls were too big and we needed to send our pacis to the babies that came to the dr.  So I went home and they helped pack up their pacis in a pretty bag and we set it by their bed so the paci fairy could come and take the pacis to the doctor.  Well the paci fairy left a lovely surprise and the pacis disappeared.  It took Lily a day and she was over it, it took Soph a week or so and we have forgotten about them.  In the mean time though they are awful sleepers now.  They wake up at least once a night each.  Which means mommy is up twice a night.  I might be ready to give the pacis back.  It has gotten a little better in the last few days though, but Lily insists on us leaving the light on now.

bye bye paci
